This blog is for all the students that are affiliated with the show (both currently and in the past) as a way to keep in touch and share their work and thoughts.
After watching the slideshow One in 8 Million - Naisi Zhao, I really liked how the use of audio to match with each pictures of the slideshow told the story. I was able understand more about the story and where Zhao was coming from because of her voice and the effective use of the pictures.
Honestly, this piece would be really easy and interesting to do. We could do a "slide and show" with the new teachers at kennedy and profile them; everybody has their own story to tell. I feel as those the two new young teachers that took your old room would have some pretty interesting stories. Nile could take nice photos using her camera and all we would need is audio.
I think the black and white of the "Slide and shows" add a special element to the person's story. It makes them seem more sophisticated and as though their stories are more mysterious.
I especially enjoyed The Teenage Mother one. It shows that we could do pieces on regular people as well. These slide and shows highlight the realism of people's lives; it includes both the good and the bad.
I really liked this One in a Million slide show piece. I like the fact that it shows different peoples lives with only pictures,no words, and with the person talking about their life as the slides change. I personally like the slide show about Freda Degannes: A Walking Miracle. Her story touched me the most, with the fact that she had a 99.9% chance of dying both ways: with or without the complicated and risky surgery to cure those blood clots in her stomach. She really IS a walking miracle. Also,I agree with Stephanie's idea about doing this slide show thing with the new teachers at our school, and maybe some other teachers as well because I do know some teachers that do have very interesting stories from back when they were in high school.
I agree as well that we should do try this to tell the stories of the new teachers. I think the "slide and show" would be a really effective way to tell stories on the morning announcements because they are different and therefore instantly attention grabbing. I think the black and white adds drama as well as enhance the story. Black and white photos are deep and more intriguing. I think it'd be cool if "slide and show were a weekly segment if we could find enough stories.
